Looking for a Postnatal Doula in Surrey?

Considering hiring a postnatal doula in Surrey, but wondering what they actually do?

Allow me to talk you through what a session with me as your postpartum doula might look like.

Picture this…

It's 9am on a Tuesday morning.

You're partner's gone back for their first day back work, a changed person.

You're sat in bed after a relentless night of wakes with your 2 week old baby.

You adore them. But you're exhausted. Your mind is busy, making sense of all the ways life has changed in the last fortnight. The birth, the feeding, the exploding love, the crashing emotions, the bubbling anxiety, the overwhelming joy, the body still bleeding, the boobs leaking, the night sweats, the back ache, the absolute pride. It's a lot.

Yet somehow you've got to do these days all on your own. Even though there was no manual. Even though no one was ever meant to do it alone.

Even though you have friends and family. You still feel suddenly alone.

There's a knock at the door.

Relief floods your body, because you aren't doing this alone. Someone's here to look after you. (Spoiler, it's me!). To look after you as you become an entirely new human, being asked to do more than any one human can do on their own.

The kettle goes on, you’re brought tea and biscuits in bed.

We chat a while, about your night, your baby, your day to day. And before long, you settle, you know you can say how you're really feeling, you know you're safe, that nothing you say will surprise me.

And a weight lifts. Those feelings going through your head, aren't secrets any more, and they feel a bit simpler now you've said them out loud.

You feed your baby, your confidence growing as we chat about how that's going, reassuring you that you're doing well.

And you tell me you're exhausted. Your back hurts so much from constantly holding the baby. You just want a break.

So, I tuck you up in bed, take your precious baby to the living room and let you sleep! Whilst you're sleeping, I'm working my magic, popping away bits from the dishwasher, putting on a load of baby's laundry and an hour later you wake up.

More rested than before. A warm bath run, waiting for you. You feed again, we chat. You have a bath whilst I make lunch.

And 4 hours after my arrival, I leave you an your baby, cosy on the sofa, water, remote, phone charger and lunch in reach. Ready to carry on your day.

Sounds like something you need?
