Birth-ed Pro

Something’s coming…

Despite many requests, for years I’ve resisted setting up a Birth-ed ‘Teaching Qualification’. Disillusioned by the ‘new career’ promises made by companies churning out hundreds of hypnobirthing practitioners or antenatal teachers each year, I never wanted to make promises I couldn’t keep. I’ll be totally honest with you- setting up a business from scratch, running local classes that you need to fill month on month to turn a profit is a slog- and it’s rare that the pay off is really worth your time. It happens for some people of course, but is it a guaranteed way to make a ‘six figure salary’? Meh, usually not.

All this said, you guys keep asking, and I’ve been determined to find a way that the approach of the Birth-ed Method can reach families not only directly, but through a community of like-minded, forward thinking and motivated perinatal professionals, like you!‍ ‍And finally (after many years waiting for it to arrive) the lightbulb moment hit!

Doula, Midwife, Obstetrician, perinatal expert? Have you been waiting to train to support families using The Birth-ed Method?

Tell me more…

I wanted to share a bit about the barriers I faced when working out how to do this, as I think they might be things you’ll be questioning too!

  • I didn’t want the established online Birth-ed Method to ‘compete’ with the offerings from Birth-ed accredited Professionals.

We’ve all seen it.. Companies that have trained 1000s of individuals to teach their ‘method’, then released their own ‘online course’ that is in direct competition with their teachers. Poor form, if you ask me. And not something I ever wanted to create.

Once you’ve trained as a Birth-ed Pro, you’ll have heavily discounted access to The Birth-ed Method* for your clients, providing a springboard for deeper, more personalised care and conversations rather than standing in competition with you.

*Payment for The Birth-ed Method is worked into your client packages, you will never have to pay up front for access or be out of pocket in order to provide this to your clients. It is not a requirement for you to provide your clients with online access to The Birth-ed Method.

  • I didn’t want to create a cookie cutter birth prep programme for you to parrot back at the families in your care.

Believe me, this gets very exhausting (and boring) to teach! And it’s sort of the opposite of what Birth-ed is all about isn’t it?

What’s most important in creating a positive birth education experience is trust, relationship building, nuance and personalisation. So rather than passing on a load of ‘facts’, The Birth-ed Pro training shows you how to flexibly shape this approach to the unique families sitting in front of you- in a clinic appointment, doula antenatal session, in labour or postnatal support, or in your own Birth-ed Antenatal courses (should you choose to run things that way!).

  • I didn’t want to create a programme that was rigid or prescriptive in the way it should be ‘taught’.

Many training programmes will tell you that you need to teach “all these facts, in this specific order, over this many hours”, regardless of what works for you, your clients, your own perspectives, insight or expertise. But not at Birth-ed Pro! As humans we’re all different in the ways we communicate, empathise, educate and work. I trust you (and can support and guide you) to use what you learn in the Birth-ed Pro training in a way that feels comfortable, intuitive and practical for the type of work you do (or would like to do!). Whether that’s working with many families in a clinic environment, as a doula working closely with families on a 1-1 basis antenatally and during birth, or if you’re looking to add a string to your bow offering antenatal education, group classes, pregnancy retreats or private birth planning sessions.
