Positive Birth Story- Planned caesarean for second baby

Facing a caesarean for your second baby, having not had one with your first, is certainly not what most pregnant mums expect!

Thanks to the Birth-ed Course, this couple were able to have the healing, positive birth they deserved, after a difficult experience with their first.

Positive c-section planning

‘We were offered the choice of a planned caesarian due to a number of factors, and thanks to the techniques Megan had taught us, we were well armed and knew it was the right decision for us. Decision was made on the Friday and our baby girl was born the following Wednesday so that weekend was a whirlwind!

Gentle caesarean birth

The actual experience was incredible. We had our music playing in the background, I used all the breathing and visualisation techniques we had learnt to remain calm in the lead up to the spinal going in, we still managed to find out the sex of our baby together (which was one of the only real birth preferences I had!) had skin to skin and breastfed as soon as we left theatre. It was such a difference to the misinformed chaos that was our first birth experience I can honestly say I loved giving birth this time round. I feel like the calmness from both of us at that time has fed into our baby too, who seems so much calmer than her sister did at this age. Even though it was probably the surgeons who had ultimate control, I felt like I had full control over birth this time, and I'm sure it's because we were so confident to question things and keep ourselves calm.

I don't know how I would have got through it all without Megan's classes though as I wouldn't have felt remotely equipped to deal with everything that was thrown at us. Thank you Megan!
