Positive Birth Story: Hypnobirthing Induction for Dates

Hypnobirthing Induction Story

This couple prepared for their birth with the birth-ed online hypnobirthing course. They didn’t start ‘til 40 weeks and it still made the world of difference!

Online Hypnobirthing Course

Me and my partner started the online course on my due date! Luckily we had time as baby took another 15 days to arrive.

I had my heart set on having a birth at the new midwifery led ward in our hospital, but as we got closer, and due date came and passed I started to look at my other options so I was prepared. We were told different information from different midwives about the “limit” on when you could use that ward, One was 40+13, another 40+14 and my favourite one was ‘depends who is up there at the time’.

Choosing Induction

I opted to start my induction at 40+13 with a membrane sweep and a cervical ballon I wanted to give these enough time to work before looking at hormones.

Two days after the balloon was inserted I was ready to have a ARM, I agreed with the midwife that we would wait 4 hours after before reassessing this and looking at starting the hormone drip, the registrar was not happy with this would prefer 2 hours. We used our BRAIN tool and stuck with having a reassessment in 4 hours.

Within seconds of my waters breaking my surges came on strong, so we set up our relaxation MP3’s and attached the tens machine. My partner stayed with me giving plenty of positive affirmation.

But baby was not happy and there was meconium in the waters and his heart rate kept dropping.
Baby chose that I was only able to labour on the bed on my left side or back, not what I had planned.

Within 3hrs30 of waters breaking I had my beautiful boy in my arms on the labour ward, with us making right choices for me and the baby.

‘We did the birth-ed online course. The information in it is great. Even thought it is online it’s so good that you can just message Megan. Also my partner felt much more involved and knew what to expect when it comes to labour’

So, even if you’re already 40 weeks pregnant, it’s certainly not too late to take so much away from the birth-ed online course!
